FAQ

When is AION 2 Advance Access?
September 30 to October 4, 2026 — five days before the free global launch on October 5. NCSOFT has not announced the exact hour the servers unlock on September 30.
Do I need a Founder's Pack for Advance Access?
Yes. Access is limited to Founder's Pack owners, but every tier qualifies: Standard at $24.99, Deluxe at $49.99, and Ultimate at $99.99 all include the identical five-day window.
What does platform-locked mean for Advance Access?
A pack bought on Steam unlocks the early window through Steam, and a pack bought through the NCSOFT PURPLE launcher unlocks it through PURPLE. NCSOFT has not announced any way to move an entitlement between the two.
Does Advance Access progress carry over to launch?
Yes. Advance Access opens the live global service early rather than running a separate build, so characters, levels, and items persist through the October 5 free opening. There is no wipe.
Will I be far behind if I start on October 5 instead?
Not far. The global service is a fresh start for everyone and does not inherit Korean or Taiwanese progress, so five days buys a head start in names and materials rather than a permanent advantage.
Is there a character pre-creation window before Advance Access?
NCSOFT has not announced one. If a pre-creation window exists, it has not been published, so September 30 is currently the earliest confirmed moment anyone can create a character.

Advance Access is the paid head start before the servers open to everyone. It is short, it is tied to the storefront you bought from, and it is identical across all three Founder’s Pack tiers. This page covers who gets in on September 30, what those five days are genuinely good for, and how far behind a free player really is on October 5.

What is AION 2 Advance Access?

Advance Access is a five-day early opening of the live global servers, running September 30 to October 4, 2026, and limited to players who own a Founder’s Pack. It is not a beta, not a stress test, and not a separate realm. You play the same build that opens free on October 5, and the characters you make stay.

That distinction separates it from the Launch Scale Test held on September 17–18, 2026. The Scale Test was infrastructure testing, it has already ended, and nothing created there carries forward. Advance Access is the opposite: real progression on the real service, five days before the free opening. The full rollout timeline sits on the release date and launch time page.

When exactly does Advance Access run?

Advance Access occupies September 30 through October 4, 2026 — five full days between the closed test and the free launch. NCSOFT has not announced the exact hour the servers unlock on September 30, so plan around the date and watch official channels for the time.

The same gap applies at the other end. The window closes when the free service opens on October 5, and that hour is unpublished too. Two missing hours are worth flagging, because third-party countdowns usually fill them in with a guess. Treat September 30 as a calendar date until NCSOFT says otherwise.

Who qualifies for September 30?

Anyone who buys a Founder’s Pack, at any tier. Standard costs $24.99, Deluxe $49.99, and Ultimate $99.99, and all three carry the same five-day window. The tiers differ in the bonus items they bundle, never in when you can log in, and the five days run from September 30 to October 4.

This is the single most important fact about the early window, and the most muddled one in secondhand coverage. If your only goal is to start on September 30, the entry tier does it. Paying more buys extras, not extra days. We break the tiers down properly in the Founder’s Pack comparison.

How does the platform lock work?

Advance Access is locked to the storefront that sold you the pack. A pack bought on Steam unlocks the early window through Steam; a pack bought through the NCSOFT PURPLE launcher unlocks it through PURPLE. There is no mixing, and no announced transfer between the two.

The practical consequence is that the storefront decision precedes the purchase. NCSOFT has published no upgrade, transfer, or migration path for entitlements, so a pack bought on the wrong client stays on the wrong client. If you are still deciding which launcher suits you, the preload and download guide compares them.

What should you actually do during the five days?

Three things repay the time: lock in character names, start the material economy early, and learn systems while the population is small. NCSOFT has not announced a separate character pre-creation window, so if name reservation happens before launch at all, September 30 is the realistic moment for it.

The economy point is the durable one. Five days of gathering, crafting, and market activity on a fresh global server is supply that late arrivals cannot retroactively create. Because the global build is a new start for everyone, early materials matter more here than they would on an established server. Use the quiet window to test systems rather than to chase optimisation — nothing about endgame balance is knowable yet, since no retail global client has been playable outside these windows.

Class choice belongs in this window too. The global launch ships eight classes: Templar, Gladiator, Assassin, Ranger, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster, Cleric, and Chanter. The classes overview covers each one by weapon and role. One naming trap worth knowing early: the global client calls the summoner Spiritmaster, while Korean and Taiwanese coverage translates the same class as Elementalist.

Does Advance Access progress carry over to launch?

Yes. Advance Access is the live global service opening early, so characters, levels, gear, and currency persist straight through October 5. There is no wipe between the early window and the free opening, and no temporary early-access server that gets retired.

This is the clearest dividing line between the two pre-launch milestones. Launch Scale Test progress was discarded because it was a test. Advance Access progress is not, because it is production. When you see claims that the early window gets rolled back, they are describing the Scale Test.

How far behind is a free player on October 5?

Less than the marketing implies. The global service is a fresh start for everyone, separate from the Korean and Taiwanese service that has run since November 19, 2025, and no account or character transfers into it. Five days buys a head start in levels and materials, not a permanent tier gap.

The head start is still real in the two places early advantage compounds: names and the market. A player who starts on September 30 can hold a desirable character name and supply materials to the first wave of crafters. A player who starts on October 5 inherits a slightly more mature market and a slightly busier starting zone. Neither is fatal, and neither justifies buying a tier you did not want. For why imported progress expectations do not apply here at all, see global vs KR/TW differences.

What has NCSOFT not announced?

Precision about the gaps matters more than usual here, because the countdown content around this launch is full of invented specifics. The table below lists every detail we have seen claimed in the wild, together with its actual status as checked against official sources on September 22, 2026.

Detail Status as of September 22, 2026
Exact hour Advance Access opens Not announced
Exact hour the free launch opens Not announced
Character pre-creation window Not announced
Entitlement transfer between Steam and PURPLE Not announced
Final server names Not announced

Server selection is region-based: North America, South America, Europe, and Asia each get dedicated servers. The world list itself is unpublished, and we track it on the server list and regions page. Do not commit to a server community before the names are real.
