There is no AION 2 console release date. That sentence is the whole answer, and everything below is the evidence for it: what NCSOFT actually confirmed at Gamescom 2026, why cross-play reads as unlikely, and why the PC-only October 5 launch is the only dated fact on the board. What is the console status of each platform?

One line is confirmed; every platform row is unconfirmed. The table separates the single NCSOFT statement from the platform-by-platform speculation that surrounds it.

The PS5 and Xbox rows deserve a warning: because the statement said “console” without a platform, any site that reports a confirmed PS5 or Xbox version is inventing a detail NCSOFT never gave. Both platforms are equally possible and equally unconfirmed.

What did NCSOFT actually say at Gamescom?

Two claims in one interview, with very different strength. In a Wccftech Q&A published September 7, 2026, NC executive publishing producer Merv Lee Kwai addressed the console question directly: a console launch is coming. The same interview’s coverage added the second half — that cross-play likely is not part of the plan.

Treat the two halves accordingly. “Console launch is coming” is a first-party confirmation of intent from a named producer: it tells you the project exists. “Cross-play likely isn’t” arrives via coverage rather than a direct quotation, so it reads as the current position rather than a final verdict — but it is consistent with everything else NCSOFT has built. A company that keeps its existing services on separate tracks is not one that wires cross-play in quietly.

What proves the launch is PC only?

Steam’s own platform flags plus the distribution list. The evidence is checkable in under a minute and leaves no room for a day-one console surprise.

The fourth row matters for pad players: a pad works on the PC client — the FAQ confirms playable-with-controller and the controller support guide walks through setup — but NCSOFT has not claimed any Steam controller tier, so pad buyers have nothing official beyond “playable” to rely on. What should console-only players do?

Do not plan around the console version; plan around the announcement of one. The sequence that has to happen is fixed — platform announcement first, then a date, then a release — and step one has not occurred. Until it does, a console player has two rational options: play the PC launch if a capable Windows machine is available (the PC system requirements page has the official spec tables), or wait explicitly for news rather than for a game.
