AION 2 Tier List — Why No Ranking Exists and What to Pick

FAQ

Is there a verified AION 2 tier list yet?
No. As of September 22, 2026 no verified global tier list exists, because nobody outside the Korean and Taiwanese service has played the retail global build. Those are two separate services with separate builds, so a ranking measured on one does not describe the other.
Why does every AION 2 tier list right now say TBD?
Because class performance cannot be measured before the global servers open. A grid filled with to-be-determined cells is reporting a real gap. It is honest, but it is also not useful on its own, which is why this page gives you a role and difficulty table instead.
Can I use a Korean or Taiwan tier list for the global version?
Use it for structure, never for numbers. Class roles, weapons, and group composition carry across services. Skill values, gear breakpoints, and damage figures are set per service and cannot be assumed to match the global launch build.
What is the best class for beginners in AION 2?
There is no measured answer yet, so the honest advice is role-based. Templar is the most forgiving pick because holding a position and absorbing pressure is simpler than timing a damage rotation. Chanter and Cleric are also beginner-friendly if you prefer group responsibility over personal output, and they find parties quickly.
Which AION 2 class is hardest to play?
Assassin and Sorcerer, judging by mechanics rather than damage. Assassin wants constant positional play and short combo windows. Sorcerer commits to long casts from a fragile position. Both punish a new player more than Templar or Ranger does.
Is Brawler in the AION 2 global tier list?
No. Brawler is the ninth class on the Korean and Taiwanese service and has not been confirmed for the global launch roster. Eight classes are confirmed for global: Templar, Gladiator, Assassin, Ranger, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster, Cleric, and Chanter.
When will this page publish real class rankings?
After October 5, 2026, once the global build is playable. Rankings will be based on content we have cleared ourselves, with each claim labelled by test date, build, and number of runs. Until then this page stays a role guide and says so.

AION 2 launches worldwide on October 5, 2026, and players are already searching for a tier list. What they find is a wall of pages ranking all eight classes for a global build that nobody outside Asia has played. This page does something more useful: it explains why the rankings do not exist yet, and gives you a way to choose a class this week without pretending to have data.

Is there a verified AION 2 tier list yet?

No. As of September 22, 2026 no verified global tier list exists. Nobody outside the Korean and Taiwanese service has played the retail global build, and that service runs a separate build. Every ranking published today is extrapolated from a version global players will not be playing.

The global service is its own build with fresh progression, and it opens on a different content schedule than the KR/TW service that has been live since November 19, 2025. That gap is the whole problem. A ranking needs a population to measure, and the global population does not exist until the servers open. What else diverges between the two services is covered in Global vs KR/TW differences.

Why is “TBD” honest rather than lazy?

Because a tier ranking is a measurement, and there is nothing to measure yet. Damage coefficients, skill caps, and gear breakpoints are set per service, and none of them can be observed until the global client is live. A grid that says “to be determined” is reporting a real absence; a grid that says S-tier is inventing one.

Honesty alone is not a product, though. Some pages have answered the data vacuum with an eight-class grid where every single cell reads “TBD” — technically truthful, practically useless. A reader who wanted to know what to play learns nothing, and the page answers the shape of the query without answering the question.

The useful move is different: state plainly that the ranking is missing, then hand the reader a decision they can actually make today. That is what the rest of this page does.

What should you pick a class on instead of a ranking?

Role and mechanical difficulty. Role tells you what a group will ask you to do. Difficulty tells you how much practice the kit demands before it feels comfortable. Both are visible in confirmed class design, and neither depends on numbers that do not exist yet.

Class Weapon Role Difficulty Suits players who
Templar Longsword Tank Low want to lead the pull and set the pace, and would rather survive a mistake than chase damage
Gladiator Greatsword Tank / melee DPS Medium want one character that can hold a line or switch to damage when the group needs it
Assassin Daggers Melee DPS High enjoy positional play and short combo windows, and accept being punished for drifting out of position
Ranger Bow Ranged physical DPS Medium want to keep distance, manage kiting space, and stay out of melee clutter
Sorcerer Spellbook Ranged magic DPS High accept long cast windows and fragile positioning in exchange for fighting from range
Spiritmaster Orb Summoner Medium like splitting attention between a pet and their own actions
Cleric Mace Healer Medium want to be the reason the group survives, and enjoy triage decisions under pressure
Chanter Staff Support Medium prefer amplifying a group with buffs and timing over personal output

Two caveats, both deliberate. First, the difficulty column is our reading of class mechanics, not a measurement — the next section explains exactly what it is based on. Second, Brawler, the ninth class on the Korean and Taiwanese service, is not confirmed for the global launch roster, so it is not in the table.

Where do these difficulty ratings come from?

From class mechanics only — positioning demands, combo and cast windows, resource and pet management, and how punishing a mistake is. They are not damage measurements. We will not publish damage figures until they can be tested on the global build.

Concretely, a class reads as harder to start when:

  • Position matters constantly. Melee classes that want to attack from behind or from a flank have to re-earn their spot every time the target turns or the fight moves.
  • The kit runs on windows. Long casts or short combo chains mean you commit before you know whether the window will hold.
  • Your attention is split. Pet and summon management adds a second set of decisions that classes without a pet never make.
  • A mistake is expensive. Classes without a defensive fallback feel every mistimed pull.

Templar sits at the forgiving end because its job is to hold a position and absorb pressure. Assassin and Sorcerer sit at the demanding end because both ask for timing and positioning that a new player has to build from scratch. None of that says which class performs best once players are equally skilled — that question needs the live build.

How do you spot a fake AION 2 tier list?

Check four labels: region, test date, sample size, and build version. A ranking missing any of them is not evidence, because none of its claims can be traced or reproduced. A ranking that carries Korean or Taiwanese numbers under a global headline is selling you a different game.

What to check A ranking worth reading A ranking to close
Region States which service was tested Silent, or implies “global” without saying so
Test date Names the date the data was collected No date, or “updated” with no collection window
Method and sample Explains how many runs, at what level, by whom No method at all
Build / patch Names the version it applies to Claims to hold for every version
Certainty Uses conditional language where it is guessing States absolute best and worst with no hedge
Source of numbers Cites tests or official values Cites other tier lists

One question cuts through almost everything: ask what the author actually played. If the answer is Korean or Taiwanese footage from a service that launched in November 2025 and runs roughly ten months ahead on content, those numbers describe a build you will not be playing on October 5. The classes overview stays inside confirmed role and weapon information for the same reason.

Which role is easiest to get a group with?

Tank, healer, and support. Every group instance needs all three, while damage dealers compete for whatever slots remain. On a fresh launch the shortage in those roles is sharpest, because most players pick a damage class first and the demand never drops.

That is role-trinity reasoning rather than measured AION 2 data, and it comes with a real trade-off: tanking and healing put the group’s failure on your screen. If you want the smoothest time finding parties and do not mind the responsibility, Templar, Cleric, or Chanter is the pragmatic pick. If you would rather test a class before committing, Advance Access gives Founder’s Pack owners five days on the live build before the free opening, and the Founder’s Pack comparison breaks down what each tier includes.

When will this page have real rankings?

After October 5, 2026, when the global build is playable. Once we can log in, we will rank roles against content we have actually cleared, and label every claim with a test date, the build it applies to, and how many runs sit behind it.

Until then this page stays a role and difficulty guide, and it will say so on the page rather than quietly promoting guesses into a ranking. The plan, in order:

  1. Test on the live global build, not on KR/TW footage, and record the date of every measurement.
  2. Publish the method next to the result — group size, level, gear state, and number of runs.
  3. Separate what we observed from what we inferred, and mark the inferred parts clearly.
  4. Revise openly. A launch ranking that never changes is a ranking nobody tested twice.

The dungeon and endgame overview runs on the same schedule: confirmed systems now, tested specifics after launch. When the first redeem codes appear, they go to the codes page rather than into a ranking table.

Sources and verification

Everything on this page stated as fact comes from NCSOFT or its storefronts, checked on September 22, 2026. The one exception is the difficulty column, which is labelled as our own reading of class mechanics rather than as measured performance data from the live game.

  • NCSOFT press materials and the official global site, aion2.plaync.com (launch date, platforms, eight-class global roster)
  • Steam store page, AppID 3393110 (free-to-play launch, Founder’s Pack tiers, Advance Access window)
  • NCSOFT gamescom Opening Night Live announcement, August 25, 2026 (October 5, 2026 date)
  • Class role and weapon list as published for the global service; Brawler appears only on the KR/TW service

Evidence level: Official / Global, with the difficulty column marked as editorial assessment. Every factual claim on this page comes from NCSOFT or its storefronts. The Low/Medium/High difficulty ratings are our reading of class mechanics, not measured performance, and they will be revisited on the live global build after October 5, 2026.
