AION 2 Endgame Guide: What to Do After Level 45

FAQ

When does the AION 2 endgame start?
At level 45 and 1,000 item level. That gate opens the Abyss, the Forgotten Commander questline and the final main quest, and it is the threshold every post-launch guide agrees on. Below it you can already run the Daily Dungeon, Arena, Battlefield and the Draupnir Expedition at 700 item level.
What should you do first after reaching level 45?
Finish your side quests for Kina, upgrade the Revelation Amulet and Noble Belt with Enhance Scrolls from Empyrean Traces and strongholds, push weapons and armour to +10 where enhancement still cannot fail, socket Clash Runes, then run Expeditions for Unique gear. Do not rush Nightmare or Transcendence before your item level is there.
How do you get from 1000 to 1400 item level?
Stack every source that adds item level at once: Regional Quests for accessories, Strongholds for Belt Scrolls, Sealed Dungeons for board points, Empyrean Traces for Amulet Scrolls and permanent account stats, five Duty Quests a day for Enhancement Stones, the Abyss Monolith, and Enhancement itself. Consumables you have banked — Philosopher's Stones and Daevanion Crystals — convert straight into skill and board levels.
What is the daily and weekly routine at level 45?
Daily: five Duty Quests, Nightmare's two attempts (up to 14 stored, only consumed on a kill) and whatever dungeon runs your item level opens. Weekly: Ascension Trial three attempts, Sanctuary two, Conquest and Transcendence attempts, and seven hours of Abyss time — all resetting on Wednesday. One tracker lists Conquest at two per day instead, and the guides do not agree.
How much Odyle Energy do you need at the cap?
The post-launch figure matches what this site tracked as a reported number before launch: a 560 cap, 840 with membership, and 40 per consumable top-up. You spend energy opening the reward cube after Expeditions, Transcendence and Sanctuary runs, so it decides how many endgame rewards you actually claim each week.

The level 45 cap does not end progression in AION 2 — it swaps the ruler. Quest markers stop carrying you and every endgame activity starts listing two requirements instead of one: character level (you have it) and item level (you do not, yet). Your first real target is 1,000 item level, which opens the Abyss, the Forgotten Commander questline and the final main quest; from there the climb runs to 1,400 for Conquest-tier content, then 1,600 for Transcendence and 2,800 for Sanctuary raids, on a daily and weekly loop that resets every Wednesday.

Verified as of October 10, 2026. AION 2 launched globally on October 5, 2026, so unlike most pages written before launch, the numbers below come from guides reading the live client — but they still come from secondary sources, not from NCSOFT documentation. Where two trackers disagree, the page shows the disagreement rather than picking a winner.

When does the AION 2 endgame start?

At level 45 and 1,000 item level — the two thresholds are checked together. Level 45 is the launch character cap, and 1,000 item level is the gate that unlocks the bulk of the endgame: the Abyss, the Forgotten Commander questline and the final main story quests. Below that number, only the doorless activities are open — the Daily Dungeon (from character level 30), Arena, Battlefield, and the Draupnir Expedition at 700 item level.

Item level itself comes from your gear and rises when you equip better pieces or enhance what you are wearing, which is why the number lags character level on every fresh 45. Every endgame activity window shows both requirements, so the practical loop at the cap is simple: run the highest content you currently qualify for until the next gate opens. The leveling guide covers the road to 45; everything after it is gated by gear instead.

What should you do first after reaching level 45?

Stabilise your gear before you touch the queues. The order that the post-launch guides converge on costs Kina first and attempts later:

  1. Finish your side quests. They are a Kina source, not filler — reported payouts run 50,000 to 100,000 Kina or more each, and every enhancement step ahead of you is paid in Kina plus Enhancement Stones.
  2. Upgrade the Revelation Amulet and the Noble Belt. Both come free from the main storyline and both are permanent slots. They are not enhanced with ordinary materials: you spend Enhance Scrolls earned by turning in Empyrean Trace Feathers at Obelisks or clearing strongholds, and at +10 they transform into a higher grade.
  3. Push weapons and armour to +10. On the live build, enhancement up to +10 is reported to succeed every time and only starts failing at +11. For a Unique item at item level 41, +0 to +10 is reported to cost 14,755 Enhancement Stones and 371,230 Kina — plan the currency before the stones. The gear progression guide maps the full subsystem stack behind that number.
  4. Socket Clash Runes. +1 costs 200 Enhancement Stones, 5,000 Kina and a matching scroll; from +2 the success chance drops and a failed attempt destroys the rune, so keep a spare before you gamble.
  5. Run Expeditions for Unique gear, and finish the post-45 main story, which is reported to hand you two class-appropriate Spiritforged weapons plus a defensive piece further on.

The temptation at 45 is to queue for Nightmare and Transcendence immediately. Both are open in the menu and neither is survivable at the item level you hit the cap with — the menu unlocking is not the same as you qualifying.

What unlocks at 1000 item level in AION 2?

The Abyss, the end of the main story, and the bracelet that comes with it. At 1,000 you can enter the Abyss in Reshanta, turn in the Forgotten Commander quest at the Shugo merchant posted at the Abyss base, and pick up the final quest chain — reported as Daeva Trapped in a Nightmare, ending in the Ascension Trial quest The One Who Witnesses the Nightmare.

The rewards are the point of this stretch. The turn-in is reported to pay a class-specific Unique piece, and the Ascension chain awards the Ascension Bracelet, described as a Unique bracelet at item level 51 with 65 Attack and 156 Defense, four manastone slots and an enhancement ceiling of +15. That bracelet, the Spiritforged weapons and the amulet and belt are the four slots you keep for the whole game, which is why the previous section spends money on them first.

Nightmare is also recommended at 1,000 — it is a recommendation rather than a hard gate — and the Abyss side of the loop starts paying out Abyss Points, which the Abyss guide tracks as a separate currency from competitive Ranking Points. Spend them on Stigma Shards to push Stigma skills, and start the Abyss Monolith with Empyrean Fragments for permanent stats; the Stigma guide covers what the shards buy.

How do you get from 1000 to 1400 item level?

By running five or six side systems at the same time, because no single one of them moves the number fast. The climb from 1,000 to 1,400 is a checklist of activities that each hand you one piece of the puzzle — an accessory, a scroll, a stack of stones, a board point — and they are designed to be stacked rather than serialised.

Source What it gives you Why it moves item level
Regional Quests Daevanion Board Points and Rare accessories Accessories fill empty slots; board points feed skill levels
Strongholds Belt Enhance Scrolls The belt is a permanent slot you upgrade yourself
Sealed Dungeons Daevanion Board Points and Skill Points Skill levels past the normal cap come from the boards
Empyrean Traces Amulet Enhance Scrolls, plus a permanent account-wide Attack, HP or Defense bonus each Well over a hundred collectibles exist; the totals rival a weapon upgrade
Expeditions Unique gear The raw item level comes from the pieces you equip
Duty Quests (5 per day) Enhancement Stones, plus Kina, crystals and materials Enhancement raises the equipped item’s own level
Stockpiled consumables Philosopher’s Stones and Daevanion Crystals → Skill Points and Daevanion Points Skills go to 8 for specializations and past 10 only through the Daevanion Board
World events World Bosses, Dimensional Invasions, Shugo Festival tokens Festival tokens trade for Daevanion Crystals, Soul Crystals and Stigma Shards

Three rules make this climb faster than it looks. First, do not skip Enhancement — item level counts what is equipped, and enhancement is the one lever that works on a piece you are already wearing; the gear progression page explains why the enhancement track survives transfers while socketed layers do not. Second, spend the consumables you have been hoarding: Philosopher’s Stones and Daevanion Crystals convert directly into the skill and board levels that also raise your rating, and the Daevanion boards guide maps where those points go. Third, bank Kina before you need it — the Kina guide tracks the income side, and at the cap the reported earners are side quests, the five daily missions (50,000 to 150,000 Kina each), dungeon cubes and the Abyss itself.

What does each item level unlock after 1400?

A ladder of gates, each one opening a harder tier of the same dungeon loop. The table below is read off the live client’s entry windows by a guide dated October 4, 2026, with the tier framing from two other post-launch guides — where they disagree, the last column says so.

Item level What opens Notes
none Daily Dungeon (Daeva Bio-Research Base), Arena, Battlefield Daily Dungeon from character level 30
700 Draupnir Expedition; Krao Cave in Conquest mode First party dungeon at the cap
1,000 Abyss, Ascension Trial (Sanctum of Loathing), final story Nightmare recommended, not required
1,200 Spacetime Rifts Reported by one guide only — see the disagreements section
1,400 Vakron Sky Island Expedition; Conquest runs; Abyss RvR The target this page is named after
1,600 Transcendence; Arena Transcendence stages scale 1,600 → 2,500
2,100 Ferocious Horn Den Expedition Three-star content
2,500 Ascension Trial, Extreme difficulty Second gate on a mode already open at 1,000
2,800 Sanctuary (Abyssal Forge: Ludra) Current top of the ladder

Two patterns are worth reading out of that column. Conquest is where the Unique gear gets good — tougher versions of the Exploration runs, with better Unique drops, a large Kina payout and reported guaranteed Uniques after enough clears, starting with Krao Cave for accessories and a shot at your class weapon. Transcendence is where Arcana comes from — four stages with modifiers such as Poison Blood, paying Arcana cards whose set bonuses are the only reported way to push active skills past their base power; the Arcana cards guide covers the rarity and enhancement rules. Check the Obtainable Rewards window in each lobby before you spend energy, so a run drops the card you actually need.

What is the daily and weekly routine at level 45?

Light dailies, hard weeklies, and a Wednesday reset on all of it. Two post-launch trackers describe the same shape with different numbers, so both are shown.

Activity Cadence (guide A) Cadence (guide B) Reward focus
Duty Quests 5 per day, account-wide — Kina, crystals, materials; reroll for crystals
Nightmare 2 per day, up to 14 stored 2 per day, up to 14 stored Phantasmal Fragments → Clash Runes, Stigma Shards, Daevanion Crystals
Conquest 2 per day 10 attempts per week, shared with Transcendence Unique gear, Kina
Transcendence 1 per day 10 attempts per week, shared with Conquest Arcana cards
Daily Dungeon — 14 entries per week Enhancement Stones
Ascension Trial 3 per week 3 per week Mana Stones and fragments
Sanctuary 2 per week — Top-tier gear
Abyss — 7 hours of usage time per week Abyss Points, drops
Arena / Battlefield — 30 + 10 / 3 + 3 reward caps per week PvP rewards

The reported details that actually change how you play:

  • Nightmare only spends an attempt when you kill the boss, so a failed pull is free — and the seven bosses unlock in stages, with three gated behind level-10 clears on the first four.
  • Leaving a cleared Conquest or Transcendence without opening the Odyle reward cube still consumes the attempt, and the limits are reported as server-wide rather than per character.
  • Kina from dungeon cubes decays over the week. In Krao Cave Exploration the reported curve is 100% Kina for runs 0–6, 60% for 7–13, 20% for 14–20 and nothing from run 21; Transcendence holds 100% to 55 runs, then 80%, 60%, 40% and 20%. The gear and materials from the cube are not mentioned in the penalty note.
  • Duty Quests are the one thing not to miss — five a day, account-wide, about 15 to 20 minutes, with crystals in the first reward slot as the guaranteed pull. The quests guide breaks down the quest families behind that.

Where should you spend Odyle Energy at the cap?

On the reward cube of the hardest run you can clear, never on a run you outlevel. Energy is what you pay to open the cube at the end of an Expedition, Transcendence or Sanctuary clear, so it converts directly into endgame rewards rather than entry. The post-launch figures — a 560 cap, 840 with membership, 40 per consumable top-up — are the same three numbers two trackers agreed on before launch, which our Odyle Energy page recorded as reported rather than confirmed; the live guides now quoting them is the closest thing to confirmation that exists outside the client.

Practically: Conquest and Transcendence at 45+ are where the reported advice says to spend, raids once you qualify, and low-level dungeons during the climb only if the quest demands it. The dungeon list records which modes each dungeon runs, and the Spacetime Rift guide covers the enemy-map hour that opens access to the other faction’s sealed dungeons and strongholds — reported to pay Enhancement Stones and Abyss Points, which feeds straight back into the climb above.

What should you do once the ladder is climbed?

Fold in the systems that keep paying after your gear settles. By the time 2,800 is realistic, the weekly loop is routine, and the remaining growth comes from account-wide layers rather than drops: the Abyss Monolith and Empyrean Traces for permanent stats, pets for Genus Insight bonuses, Unique gear dismantled for skins and a Closet stat boost, field bosses for Pantheon Artworks, and crafting for gear that outclasses dungeon sets. The pets guide and the crafting guide cover their halves of that list, and the PvP page covers the arena and RvR side of the cap.

What do the guides still disagree about?

The endgame is five days old at the time of writing, and the trackers have not converged. Read these as open questions rather than resolved facts:

Question The disagreement
What item level is Conquest? 1,400 (Game8, AllThingsHow) vs Krao Cave Conquest open from 700 (space4games) vs “2,100 Conquest” in one progression summary (ExpCarry)
Conquest and Transcendence attempts 2 per day + 1 per day vs 10 per week combined
Arena entry No item level shown in the client vs listed under 1,600+
Spacetime Rift gate 1,200 Gear Power reported by one guide; others describe the rift without a number
The Abyss turn-in NPC Spelled Koro in one guide, Kuro in another
Daily dungeon entries Account-shared vs the character-bound energy model reported for the regional service

Until a tracker publishes a client screenshot for each row, the honest position is the position this page has taken throughout: the ladder’s shape — 1,000, then 1,400, then 1,600, then 2,800 — is consistent across every source read for this page, while the exact gate on any single row is one screenshot away from being corrected.
