Are alts worth making in AION 2?
In AION 2, progression is shared per server, not per account. Roll a second character on the same server and it inherits your Server Storage, your skins, your pets and your membership — and once you use the Monolith’s sync, your feather progress. It does not inherit your level, gear, Stigmas, story or Odyle Energy, and none of that follows you to another server.
Verified as of October 10, 2026. The global service opened on October 5, so everything below comes from either NCSOFT’s own notices, the live global client as players and guide authors describe it, or the labelled Korea/Taiwan reference material this site already carries. Where two sources disagree — currency scope, weekly limits, the Founder’s Pack binding change — the disagreement is printed rather than resolved, and nothing unannounced is stated as fact.
What carries over to a new character on the same server?
A shared Server Storage, your cosmetic collections, your pets, your membership and — on request — your feather progress. That is the honest shortlist. Every entry below is scoped to one server, which is the single most important word on this page.
| Thing | Scope | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Server Storage | All characters on the same server | Observed on the live client; space4games tested it October 8, 2026 |
| Skins and closet | All characters on the same server | Observed; also reported by GamerBlurb October 8, 2026 |
| Pets, including pet levels and Genus Insight | All characters on the same server | Reported (global), consistent with earlier KR/TW reporting |
| Monolith Empyrean Trace (feather) progress | Syncable to your highest character on that server | Reported by expcarry, GamerBlurb and post-launch player guides |
| Membership | Only the server where you claim it — covers that server’s characters | Tested first-hand by space4games; independent player threads agree |
| Founder’s Pack title, skins, Black Dragon, Blazing Sun Wings | All characters on all servers since the October 7, 2026 patch | Reported (space4games update log, October 8) |
The pets row is the one worth reading twice. The pets guide on this site already records pet ownership and Genus Insight as shared rather than per-character — a claim that arrived from the Korea/Taiwan service as secondary reporting. Post-launch accounts of the global client describe the same pooling, so an alt does not mean rebuilding a pet collection.

The feather row is the one that needs a button press. Progress does not silently apply itself: the Monolith interface carries a sync option (reported as Sync Empyrean Traces) that lifts a new character’s collection to the highest progress already reached on that server. Skip it and you are re-walking the same map on your alt.
Is sharing account-wide or server-wide in AION 2?
Server-wide. This is the distinction that decides how you plan a roster, and every verified source uses the same boundary: all characters on the same server. Nothing players have confirmed on the global client is account-wide across servers.
Two consequences follow. First, a character on a second server is a clean slate — no shared storage, no shared collection, no membership. Second, the word “account” in community posts about AION 2 usually means “the characters I have on one server”, not the whole login. The server list and regions guide covers why that matters at launch: each server hosts one faction only, so an Elyos main and an Asmodian alt are automatically a two-server plan.
That scoping is also why transfers exist as a decision rather than an afterthought. NCSOFT’s transfer notice puts server transfers at October 14, and the rules already sitting in the client say a character moves with its own data, Quna and Mileage while Server Storage contents, mailbox, market history and character slots stay behind, with wardrobe and pets merged into the target server. The launch errors and fixes page records the notice itself; space4games, which read those in-client rules, notes NCSOFT has not published them as official policy yet, so treat the list as the game’s current behaviour rather than a guarantee.
What does not carry over to an alt?
The four things that make your main your main: level, gear, Stigmas and story — plus Odyle Energy, the Daeva Pass and the daily limits you were counting on. A second character is a second character, not a copy.
| System | Scope | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Character level and the leveling path | Per character | The leveling guide covers the 1–45 climb you would repeat |
| Equipped gear and enhancement | Per character | The gear progression page tracks what enhancement survives and what does not |
| Stigmas and skill setup | Per character | The stigma guide covers the slot rules |
| Main story, Episode and regional quests | Per character | Reported by post-launch players; see the quests guide for the family breakdown |
| Odyle Energy | Per character, not a shared pool | Our dungeon entry page labels this character-bound from a single source; post-launch players report the same |
| Daeva Pass battle pass | Per character, sold separately | Official structure — see pay to win and free to play |
| Abyss rank | Per character | Recorded on the Abyss page as KR/TW reference |
One line there deserves its own warning, because it is the most expensive surprise in the list: the Daeva Pass is bought per character. NCSOFT’s business-model notice describes a free track plus a Quna-bought premium track on each character, which means a roster of four is a roster of four passes if you buy them. The Founder’s Pack comparison separates that recurring cost from the one-off pack contents.
Does Kina or Quna carry over between characters?
Kina partly, Quna unsettled — and NCSOFT has published no currency-sharing table either way. The published structure is the two-currency split itself: Kina earned in game, Quna bought with real money, an exchange between them. How either behaves across characters is player-reported.
- Unbound Kina can be deposited in Server Storage and withdrawn by another of your characters — this is the working alt-funding loop post-launch players describe: earn on the alt, bank it, spend on the main.
- Bound Kina is reported as tied to the character that earned it and is not tradeable. Our Kina and Quna guide records the community split and its sources; where sources differ on whether bound Kina is character- or account-locked, this page does not pick a winner.
- Quna is genuinely unresolved. One r/Aion2 answer lists Quna among the server-wide things alongside the subscription and feathers, while the in-game transfer rules described by space4games say a transferring character moves with its own Quna. Treat Quna as yours until NCSOFT says otherwise, and do not build a plan around moving it between alts.
The practical version: value moves between your characters on one server through Server Storage and the Market, and both are gated — storage by item binding, the Market by the membership. That is why the pay to win and free to play page treats the membership as an economy question rather than a power one.
Do daily and weekly limits reset per character?
Sometimes — and the sources do not fully agree on which ones, so check before you spend an entry on an alt. This is the part of sharing that can work against you: a shared counter means your alt’s run is your main’s run you did not take.
Community documentation identifies weekly dungeon entries and Supply Request limits as counters shared across the server roster rather than resetting per character. Against that, our quests guide carries a secondary report of roughly five daily duty quests capped at account level and twelve weekly duty or command quests per character — two scopes that cannot both be right for every counter, which is exactly why neither is printed here as a rule.
What survives the disagreement: some repeatable allowances belong to the roster, not the slot. Our dungeon entry page already records that daily and weekly dungeon limits are unpublished for the global build, so any specific number you see elsewhere is regional or invented. Read the counter in your own client before treating a second character as a second allowance.
Does anything carry over across servers, tests or regions?
Across services: nothing. Across builds: almost nothing. Within the live service: your Advance Access characters. Three separate boundaries are worth keeping apart.
| Move | What carries |
|---|---|
| Korea/Taiwan service → global | Nothing. Separate build, fresh progression — see global versus KR/TW |
| Launch Scale Test → launch | Nothing. All test progress was wiped when the test closed September 18, 2026 |
| Advance Access (Sept 30) → launch (Oct 5) | Everything on those characters. Same live service, so head-start progress continued |
| Server → server (transfers open October 14) | Character data, Quna and Mileage; not Server Storage, mailbox, market history or character slots |
The scale-test row is the one people forget, because the test felt like a preview of the real game and was not one. The release date page and the beta and open tests page both carry NCSOFT’s closing notice on that.
So should you make an alt?
Yes, as an alt. A launch server gives four character slots, Server Storage and the collections are shared with your main, and an alt reaches the point where it earns weekly rewards much faster than your first character did. What the sharing does not do is make a second main: level, gear, Stigmas, story and every per-character limit all start again, and the battle pass bills again.
A workable order of operations:
- Commit to one main. Pick class and faction first — classes overview for the eight, character creation for what is permanent.
- Put the alt on the same server and faction. Different server and the shared storage, collections and membership all stop applying.
- Sync the Monolith before you collect anything. One button removes the repeat grind.
- Bank unbound Kina in Server Storage rather than spending it on the alt’s gear first.
- Assume your alts’ weekly counters may be shared with your main. Check in client, then decide which character spends the entry.
How does this page divide work with the rest of the site?
- This page covers what crosses between characters: storage, collections, currencies, limits.
- The pets guide covers pet mechanics and what Genus Insight does.
- The wardrobe page covers skins, closet and dyeing.
- The Kina and Quna guide covers the two currencies and the exchange.
- The dungeon entry page covers Odyle Energy and entry limits.
- The server list covers worlds, regions and creation locks.
Six pages, six jobs — this one never duplicates them, it points at them.

- r/Aion2 threads “Do I keep anything if I create a new character on the same server”, “Subscription is Server bound!” and “Titles and $100 Wings being Character-Bound” — community reports of the server-wide scope of storage, subscription and Kina, and of the character-bound Founder’s Pack items before the October 7 patch
- Steam community discussion “Subscription Per Server NOT Account wide”, September 30, 2026 — player reports of server-bound membership, with a later edit reporting Founder’s Pack items opened account-wide
- timesaver.gg, AION 2 character slots and alts, September 29, 2026 — reported slot figures (about four, up to eight) and the per-character Daeva Pass framing; its claim that no shared-resource system exists is pre-launch and now contradicted by the storage and sync behaviour above
- NCSOFT business-model notice, July 8, 2026, as reported by Massively Overpowered — the Kina/Quna split and the per-character Daeva Pass structure (also carried on this site’s pay to win page)
- NCSOFT launch notices and the official global site — global launch October 5, 2026, Advance Access September 30 – October 4 carrying progress forward, Scale Test progress wiped, Korea/Taiwan as a separate service with no transfer to global
Evidence level: Observed on the live global client, with labelled reports and pre-launch reference points. The server-wide scope of storage, skins, pets and membership is stated by a guide author testing the live game and is consistent across independent reports; the October 7 Founder’s Pack change and the transfer rules are reported and dated, with the transfer rules explicitly not yet published by NCSOFT as policy. Per-character status of level, gear, Stigmas, story and the Daeva Pass follows the official structure plus post-launch player reporting. Odyle Energy, the weekly-limit scopes and the currency questions remain unpublished or single-sourced for the global build, and are labelled as such wherever they appear — no figure on this page is stated as an NCSOFT number unless NCSOFT published it.
