Yes. NCSOFT published a complete minimum and recommended sheet on the Steam store page for AppID 3393110, so the earlier “specs not announced” position no longer applies. Both tiers require a 64-bit processor and operating system, DirectX 12, a broadband connection, and 100 GB of available space.

Everything in the two tables below is copied from that Steam page, including the Additional Notes lines that carry the interesting part.

CPU: what the processor row does and does not tell you

The two processor names are the entire published CPU specification: an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 or Intel Core i5-10500 at minimum, an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X or Intel Core i7-11700 at recommended. NCSOFT attached no clock speed, no core count and no frame-rate target to either row, so the sheet cannot tell you how much faster one is.

What you can do with the row is check it and place it. Read the Processor line off the dxdiag System tab and compare the string — that is the whole test, and the table further down this page sets it out. Both ends of the step are ordinary desktop parts rather than enthusiast silicon, which means a machine built to the recommended row is not a high-end machine by any published measure: NCSOFT simply did not publish a high-end one. GPU: where the 4 GB minimum bites

The graphics row is an NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti (4GB) at minimum and an NVIDIA RTX 2070 (8GB) at recommended, and those two card names are the whole published GPU specification. The parenthetical memory figures are the only detail NCSOFT printed beyond the names, and they are what the Very Low preset note is pointing at.

The reasoning runs straight off the table. 4 GB is the smallest amount of video memory either tier asks for, and NCSOFT pairs that tier with the lowest preset name it uses anywhere on the sheet, so the two rows agree with each other: the card with the least memory is the one told to render least. The recommended card doubles the published memory to 8 GB and moves the named preset up exactly one step, from Very Low to Low. That is a small quality step for a large card step, and it is the clearest sign that the sheet describes a compatibility target rather than a performance ladder — the tier names are the only quality statement NCSOFT published. Two things follow from the table itself. The step is a straight doubling with no change to any other entry on either row, which is what a memory requirement looks like when the publisher is guarding against a client that will not start rather than one that will stutter. And because no speed or type is given, the only comparison available is the number in the Memory field on the dxdiag System tab — the same check laid out further down this page. Memory is also the one component on this list you can usually add to rather than replace, which makes it the cheapest way to move a machine from the minimum row to the recommended one, and the reason to do it before launch night rather than during a download.

Storage: SSD versus a mechanical drive

Both tiers ask for the same 100 GB of available space, and both carry the same first-party line: SSD Recommended. That is a recommendation rather than a blocker — nothing on the sheet says the client refuses to install on a mechanical drive — and it is NCSOFT’s own wording rather than a community preference, printed on both tiers.

Two readings follow from the rows themselves. “Available” means free space rather than total capacity, so 100 GB has to be clear on the drive you install to before anything starts, and the Storage row is identical on both tiers, which means disk space alone cannot tell you anything about how the game will run. Treat the 100 GB as a floor rather than a final footprint, because a client grows with patches, shader caches and logs after the first install — and on a mechanical drive that growth shows up as hitching while you move through the world. The drive decision is cheap and the pre-load is a large file transfer, so this is the row worth settling first.

DirectX 12: what it means for your PC

DirectX 12 is listed on the minimum row, which makes it a gate rather than a preference. A machine that cannot report DirectX 12 is below the published floor whatever its other parts are, and NCSOFT published no lower version to fall back on. It is also the one requirement on this sheet that software, not hardware, can settle.

That is why the check further down this page starts with dxdiag rather than with the GPU. The version string sits on the System tab next to the operating system and the installed memory, so a single screen covers the four rows that can disqualify a machine outright: architecture, operating system, DirectX version and memory. The requirement assumes a current 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 installation, and anything older is outside the published specification regardless of the graphics card it carries — which is the reasoning behind the “Below the minimum row” line in the table under the Additional Notes section above.

What do the official Additional Notes actually tell you?

That line is the most informative part of the sheet. NCSOFT attaches no frame-rate target to either tier — it attaches a graphics preset. The recommended build is told to run FHD at Low, and the minimum build at Very Low. Officially, both tiers describe compatibility, not quality.

Read literally, “recommended” here means “the build at which the Low preset is the intended setting at FHD”. It is not a promise of high settings, of comfortable frame rates, or of headroom for the large-scale raids and PvP that the same store page lists as features. Every quality setting named anywhere on this sheet is a low one.

The consequence for buyers is concrete. If your goal is Medium, High, or Ultra at FHD, or any resolution above FHD, the official sheet gives you no target at all, because you would sit above the recommended row by definition and NCSOFT has published nothing about what such a machine should deliver.

There is a second consequence, about how to read other people’s spec tables. Guides that reprint a recommended tier while dropping the Additional Notes strip out the only quality statement NCSOFT made. A PC that matches the recommended row and then plays at Low is not underperforming — it is doing exactly what the sheet specifies.

Does AION 2 run on Windows only?

Yes. Steam lists AppID 3393110 as Windows-only: the platform flags are windows true, mac false, linux false. There is no macOS or Linux client, so neither is officially supported. A 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11 installation is the entire supported target, and Proton or Steam Deck compatibility has not been officially confirmed.

That answers the question the same way for both non-Windows camps. Mac owners have no supported route today: not a native client, not a listed compatibility layer, not a rating. Where can you download AION 2 — Steam and PURPLE?

From two official channels: Steam, where AION 2 is AppID 3393110, and NCSOFT’s own PURPLE launcher, downloaded from the official global site. Both deliver the same Windows PC client, the game is free to download, and no purchase is required to install it.

If you have bought a Founder’s Pack the choice stops being free: Advance Access is platform-locked to the storefront you bought from, and no transfer between Steam and PURPLE has been announced. When can you pre-load AION 2?

The pre-load is open: it started September 28, 2026 at 6:00 AM PDT, which is 13:00 UTC, on both PC clients. What the requirements sheet does not carry is a server-open hour — the download has a published clock and neither launch date does, so the client can sit installed on your drive while the Play button stays locked.

The consequence for a hardware page is narrow but real. A pre-load this size is a long file transfer, so it is the storage and network rows on this sheet that it exercises: clear the 100 GB on an SSD before you start it, and do not assume a mechanical drive finishes in time for the date you care about. Is an SSD required for AION 2?

Officially it is recommended, not required. Both the minimum and recommended entries carry the same Additional Notes line, SSD Recommended. Which languages does AION 2 support on Steam?

Eight languages, and Chinese is not one of them. Steam lists English, French, German, Spanish - Spain, Japanese, Portuguese - Brazil, Russian, and Korean for AppID 3393110. English, Japanese, and Korean are marked with an asterisk, which on Steam means the language also carries full audio support, not just text.

What should laptop owners check before buying AION 2?

Laptops often launch games on the integrated chip instead of the discrete card. Open Windows Settings, go to System, then Display, then Graphics, add the AION 2 executable, and set it to High performance. Then confirm in Task Manager that the discrete GPU is the one carrying the load.

The published sheet names desktop-class parts — a GTX 1050 Ti at the floor and an RTX 2070 at the recommended tier — and it does not include a separate laptop list. A mobile GPU wearing the same name as a desktop card is generally the slower part, so a name match is not a performance match. Check the actual chip in your machine rather than the sticker on the lid.
