Why is AION 2 not on mobile in the West?
Can I play AION 2 on a tablet or iPad?
Will AION 2 come to mobile globally later?
Can I play AION 2 on my phone by streaming it?
Can I play the Korean or Taiwanese mobile version from outside those regions?
No — AION 2 has no phone or tablet client outside Korea and Taiwan. The global service NCSOFT launched on October 5, 2026 is a Windows PC game, sold only through Steam and the PURPLE launcher, with no iOS or Android version announced. A mobile build of AION 2 does exist, but it belongs to the separate Korean and Taiwanese service, which has run on PC, iOS and Android since November 19, 2025 — a different client, different servers, and no path between the two. The global versus KR/TW page explains why that split decides almost every question you will have about this game.

Is AION 2 on mobile?
Yes and no, depending on which service you mean. The Korean and Taiwanese service is on iOS and Android; the global service is not, and has never been.
| AION 2 global | AION 2 Korea / Taiwan | |
|---|---|---|
| Launched | October 5, 2026 (Advance Access September 30, 2026) | November 19, 2025 |
| PC client | Steam and the PURPLE launcher | PURPLE |
| Phone client | None announced | iOS and Android |
| Tablet client | None announced | Reported — see the tablet section below |
| Console | Being prepared, no platform and no date | None announced |
| Accounts or progress shared with the other service | None | None |
Both columns are checkable rather than inferred, and the row that matters most is the third one. Searches of Google Play and the App Store run on October 10, 2026 turn up the regional clients — a Korean listing published by NC Corporation and a separate Taiwanese one — and no global mobile listing. The reason the second column surprises nobody who has watched the Korean launch is that the phone build came first there: NCSOFT’s own September 12, 2025 release announces pre-registration “via the official website, Google Play, and App Store”.
The two services are not two doors into one game. Nothing you create, buy or earn on the Korean or Taiwanese service carries over to global, and the global build does not inherit that service’s patches or content schedule.
Why does the global version have no phone app?
Because NCSOFT built the Western release for PC, and said so in writing three separate times before launch. The three statements line up exactly:
- NC America, April 21, 2026: “the AION 2 global version is built specifically for PC.”
- NCSOFT pre-release FAQ, updated August 25, 2026: the global version is “developed exclusively for PC platforms.”
- The Steam listing itself: the product description ends with “PC only, on Unreal Engine 5”, and the store flags Windows true with macOS and Linux false — the platform flags recorded on this site’s PC system requirements page, checked in September 2026.
Distribution reinforces the same point. The two global storefronts are both PC clients: Steam and NC’s own PURPLE launcher, as set out in the preload and download guide. There is no third official channel, no mobile storefront entry, and no pre-registration page for a phone build. The requirements sheet names 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 tiers only, so there is no device floor for any phone or tablet anywhere in NC’s global materials.
This is also the shortest answer to why so much AION 2 footage looks like a mobile game while the thing you install is not one: the game shipped as a PC-and-mobile title in Korea and Taiwan, and that design — the scaled interface, the session length, the auto-movement — carried into the PC build. The design travelled; the phone client did not.
What does the Korean and Taiwanese mobile version offer?
The whole game on a phone: the same Atreia, the same faction war, on iOS and Android, running since November 19, 2025. It is not a cut-down companion app. It is the live service for those two regions, roughly ten months of content ahead of the global build, with Chapter 1 content and a ninth class that the global launch roster does not include.
Two details about it are worth separating from that official core, because neither is published by NCSOFT’s global materials:
| Detail | Status |
|---|---|
| PC and mobile play together in KR/TW (one account across devices) | Reported — LagoFast, September 10, 2026 |
| iPadOS / tablet builds in KR/TW | Reported — LagoFast, September 10, 2026 |
| Regional store listings on Google Play and App Store | Confirmed — listings live, checked October 10, 2026 |
| Any of it usable from a global account | No — separate services, no transfer |
The last row is the one that decides things. Even if every reported row above is right, playing the Korean or Taiwanese mobile client gives you a different service with separate servers and a fresh start waiting on global. The global versus KR/TW comparison lists what does and does not carry across, including the region-lock and sideloading risks attached to reaching that client from a region it is not licensed for.
Can I play AION 2 on a tablet?
Not on the global service: there is no tablet build to install. The global client is a Windows executable distributed by Steam and PURPLE, and an Android or iOS emulator runs mobile apps — it cannot run a PC game client. A tablet owner on the global service is a streaming customer, not an install customer.
On the Korean and Taiwanese service, tablet play is reported rather than confirmed: platform guides list iPadOS alongside Android, but NCSOFT has not published a device list or a tablet system requirement sheet, so treat it as unverified until a store listing says otherwise.
The honest version of “play AION 2 on a big portable screen” today is the PC client itself — on a handheld PC, or streamed to a tablet. Steam Deck play is its own separate question, currently unrated by Valve and dependent on running a Windows-only game through Proton; the controller support page carries the full picture, because a gamepad is an input question rather than a platform one.
Will AION 2 come to mobile later?
Maybe, but nothing is announced: no date, no platform, no pre-registration, no store listing. The mobile client already exists in two regions, so a Western port is technically plausible rather than a research project — but plausible is not promised, and NC has framed the global launch as PC from its first announcement to its last.
The right way to hold this is the same way the console question is held: intent without a date is an undated prospect, not a release. NCSOFT confirmed at Gamescom 2026 that a console launch is coming and named no platform, and the console release date page tracks it on exactly that basis. Mobile sits in the same category — possible, unconfirmed, undated — with one difference: for console, NC has at least confirmed the project exists; for mobile it has not.
Two traps to avoid on the way. Unannounced is not cancelled — nobody at NC has said a global mobile version will never happen, and this page will not say it either. And a plausible date is not a date — any page giving you a month for a Western phone release is guessing. When something is actually announced, it lands on the official news board at aion2.plaync.com and on the release schedule page here first.
What can I do if I only have a phone?
Four realistic options, in the order we would weigh them.
- Steam Remote Play Anywhere. The one that works today, and it is free. Steam streams a game already running on another machine to your phone, laptop or handheld over the internet. The catch is honest: it relocates the hardware requirement instead of removing it, so the host PC still has to clear the official PC system requirements — a GTX 1050 Ti, 8 GB RAM and 100 GB of free space at the minimum row.
- Cloud streaming. As of October 6, 2026, AION 2 is not in the GeForce NOW catalog, and NVIDIA has published no date for adding it — the GeForce NOW page runs through the catalog check, the membership rules and the alternatives, including rented cloud PCs.
- A Windows PC, borrowing or building. The game itself costs nothing — it is free to start on Steam and PURPLE, so the only real cost is the hardware. The free-to-play breakdown covers what a free account actually gets.
- The KR/TW mobile client. Available only in those two regions and region-locked to them. A VPN or a mirrored APK risks a suspended account and a compromised device, and the progress you make there stays there. We would not.
How do you check whether a mobile version has been announced?
- Read the Steam platform flags. On the AION 2 store page: Windows true, macOS and Linux false. A mobile build would not change those flags, but the description line and the news feed are where a platform expansion would be mentioned first.
- Search the app stores directly. Google Play and the App Store for a global AION 2 listing published under the global service. The listings that exist today are the Korean and Taiwanese clients.
- Check NC’s own news board. aion2.plaync.com publishes platform announcements there before anywhere else.
- Re-read this page. The checked date at the top of the sources section moves whenever any of the above changes.

Evidence level: Official for the PC-only global release, the KR/TW mobile launch and every storefront row; named secondary sources with dates for the “no announcement” finding and for the KR/TW cross-play and tablet rows, which are marked reported wherever they appear. No mobile date, platform or pre-registration is stated anywhere on this page, because none exists; items marked not announced were checked against the sources above on October 10, 2026.
