AION 2 Patch Notes — Launch Day Build and Hotfixes

FAQ

What actually changed in the AION 2 launch build?
One published set of notes, carried in the October 4 Steam announcement titled Scheduled Maintenance Sun Oct 4 / Mon Oct 5 and applied during the eight-hour window from 05:00 to 13:00 UTC on October 5. It made character deletion far cheaper (waiting period 168 hours down to 24 hours, minimum level down from Level 10 to Level 1), pushed the idle redirect to the server selection screen from 30 minutes to 3 hours, extended in-game announcements from 3 seconds to 10 seconds, made quest objects stop disappearing or respawn faster, raised the stats of some bosses that were too weak for a five-player party, and fixed five named bugs including the Journal - Duty error and a quest chain that broke if the client closed mid-quest.
Where are AION 2 patch notes published, and which feed is test-only?
Two live channels. The official site notice board at aion2.plaync.com carries notices such as Update on Sanctuary Raid, and the Steam news feed for AppID 3393110 carries the rest. A third feed exists for AppID 4972320, the September 17-18 Launch Scale Test app, and it is test-only: its September 18 hot fix changed the quest interaction radius and blocked appearance tickets below level 10, and none of that is part of the October 5 retail build.
Can I delete a character right after launch?
Yes, and much more cheaply than during Advance Access. The launch build cut the deletion waiting period from 168 hours to 24 hours and dropped the minimum character level required from Level 10 to Level 1, so a level 1 character can now be deleted after a single day.
Why can I not create a character — is that a patch note change?
No. Character creation closures on launch day are a capacity response, not a change listed in the patch note. When a world reaches its cap NC closes character creation there while existing characters still log in, and the community team has said caps are being raised and servers added. Nothing in the October 4 note touches character creation, so a restricted world is a population fact — the server population page tracks it.
Which AION 2 error codes has NC explained?
None of the launch-day ones. S:8970, the 'failed to connect to server' message most players saw during Advance Access, has no published definition. S:8713 and S:8969 had no explanation from NC or any player source as of October 4, 2026. The launch patch note fixes game bugs, not client error strings, so nothing there clarifies them.
Was the Ludra raid removal part of the launch patch notes?
No, it was a separate notice. The October 4 maintenance announcement does not mention Sanctuary Raid: Ludra at all. Ludra was pulled by a distinct official site notice titled Update on Sanctuary Raid on October 5, with its gear temporarily removed alongside it, both returned when the reworked encounter comes back.

AION 2 patch notes for the global service start with one entry. The game launched on October 5, 2026 at 13:00 UTC, and the build that opened came out of a single eight-hour maintenance window carrying a single published set of changes. This page was last checked against NCSOFT’s own feeds on October 6, 2026 at 02:30 UTC. Nothing has been published since the October 5 launch posts, so the launch note is still the complete shipped change list — and the ledger below is the place every later hotfix gets appended, one row per notice, with the check time at the top moved forward each pass.

What shipped in the AION 2 launch build

One notice, published October 4 at 11:43 UTC on the Steam news feed (AppID 3393110), titled “Scheduled Maintenance Sun Oct 4 / Mon Oct 5”, applied during a window running from 05:00 to 13:00 UTC on October 5. That window is the same eight hours that ended Advance Access and opened the free global launch, which is why the patch note and the release date and launch time guide share a clock.

Line from the note Category What it means for you
Character deletion wait cut from 168 hours to 24 hours Improvement A mistake on day one costs a day, not a week
Minimum level to delete dropped from Level 10 to Level 1 Improvement Fresh characters can be rolled back freely
Idle redirect to server selection raised from 30 minutes to 3 hours Improvement Far fewer disconnects from idling on the character screen
In-game announcements extended from 3 to 10 seconds Improvement Longer enough to actually read server messages
Quest objects stop disappearing; some respawn faster Improvement The main complaint class from the September test
Some boss stats raised — they were too low for a five-player party Adjustment Standard party content gets harder at launch
Auto Move during a quest no longer snaps you back Fix Quest chaining stops resetting position
Journal - Duty error Fix Plus a workaround: if you opened the Duty tab before level 45, Duties unlock the next day, not immediately
Duplicate “Content” entry in Settings > Key Settings > Menu list Fix Cosmetic
Quest chain breaking if the client closed mid-quest Fix Plus a Quest Tracker button to teleport to Verteron or Altgard during the Poeta / Ishalgen Hero Quests
(EN) “Vanguard of Atreia” title showing as “Shaper of Heavens” Fix The English-only title naming bug from Advance Access

Two of the three issues on NC’s Advance Access known-issues notice of October 3 — the mislabelled title and the level 45 Duty lockout — appear here as fixes. The third, a “Please Try Again Later” message that can block chat, is not listed in the launch note, so it should be treated as still open rather than quietly assumed fixed.

Which feed each AION 2 patch note was published to

Notices get split across channels, and the split is the reason some changes are easy to miss.

Channel Where What belongs there
Steam news feed (AppID 3393110) store.steampowered.com/news/app/3393110 Launch maintenance and patch notes, launch confirmations, gifts, giveaways
Official site notice board aion2.plaync.com notice list Content decisions that are not patch notes, including the Ludra removal
Steam playtest feed (AppID 4972320) store.steampowered.com/news/app/4972320 Test build only — September 17-18 Launch Scale Test notices

The third row is the trap. The playtest feed carries a genuine “AION 2 Hot Fix Update” from September 18 at 03:57 UTC that raised the quest interaction radius, blocked appearance change tickets below level 10, and fixed chat reporting and crashes. That is a test-build change. None of it is part of the October 5 retail build, and quoting it as a launch hot fix is a category error. The server status and maintenance page documents that same channel split from before launch.

The hotfix ledger, October 5 to now

Empty below the header because NC has not published a post-launch patch note yet. The last first-party build change on record remains the October 1 no-downtime fix, which belongs to Advance Access rather than to launch: it corrected Advance Access entitlement not being recognised at login and in-game purchase failures, and it applied on the next client restart with no downtime.

Published (UTC) Channel Notice Shipped change
Oct 5, 19:13 Steam feed 3393110 Graphics Card Giveaway Not a build change — an RTX 5080 giveaway running to October 12
Oct 5, 19:02 Steam feed 3393110 Customization Voucher to all players Not a build change — a bound voucher mailed to every account
Oct 5, 14:04 Steam feed 3393110 Thank you for 400.000 Active Players Not a build change — 15 bound Resurrection Spiritstones
Oct 5, 12:40 Official site board Update on Sanctuary Raid Not a build change, but a live content removal (see below)
Oct 5, 12:48 Steam feed 3393110 AION 2 Will Launch On Time Confirmation that 13:00 UTC was holding
— — Next hotfix goes here Append slot

The gift posts are the most common source of confusion on launch day, because they arrive faster than fixes and get filed as patches by aggregators. A voucher or a giveaway is compensation, not a code change.

Ludra came out with the launch build, and it is not in the patch note

A separate official site notice, “Update on Sanctuary Raid”, published October 5 at 12:40 UTC, removed Sanctuary Raid: Ludra from the launch build. The board displays UTC — cross-checking against NC’s “Will Launch On Time” post, which the Steam feed time-stamps at 12:48 UTC, puts the two channels within two minutes of each other.

The stated reason is that Ludra was cleared during Early Access at a lower progression level than intended, and NC decided Global players should get the discovery again. Ludra-specific gear earned during Early Access is temporarily removed too, with the items granted back and upgrade materials reimbursed on return; the Hall of Fame resets, a new First Clear event runs, and every player who cleared Ludra in the Europe region during Early Access receives a commemorative title. NC will publish the return date by October 16. If you were levelling toward the gear progression path, this is the one launch-day change that can make a target disappear, and it was never listed in the maintenance note.

What players are hitting that no patch note mentions

These are launch-day reports with no first-party confirmation. They belong to the launch errors and fixes page for triage, and they are listed here so they are not mistaken for shipped fixes.

Report Status Notes
Character creation restricted on full worlds Unconfirmed as a patch Matches the cap-closure behaviour NC has described; not in the October 4 note
S:8970, “cannot connect to the game server” Unexplained by NC Seen through Advance Access at peak hours; no published definition
S:8713 and S:8969 Unexplained by NC or any player source as of October 4 Try the S:8970 steps, then file a ticket
S:17, “failed to reconnect, moving to login screen” Unexplained by NC Log in again rather than reinstalling
0xE0000013 / 0xE0000011 at start-up Player-reported Linked by players to the anti-cheat blocking hooked software
“Please Try Again Later” blocking chat Open from the October 3 known-issues list, absent from the launch note Not addressed by any published note as of the check time

Read the first row against the server population page: a world that closes creation is full, not broken, and existing characters still log in. NC’s own queue policy — priority placement for accounts in good standing — is why a launch-day login attempt can take hours without being an error at all.

The September 16 Korean balance patch is not a global patch

One line needs to stay quarantined. As of September 30, 2026, Space4Games reported a Korean balance patch on September 16 that added elemental damage to Ranger attacks, and whether it carries into the global build is unconfirmed — a note recorded on the Ranger guide as a thing to check at launch rather than a fact.

It remains a comparison row, not a launch change. Nothing in the October 4 global patch note mentions class balance at all, so on the evidence published so far, no balance change has shipped on Global. The Korea and Taiwan service is a separate build with its own cadence, and the global versus KR/TW differences page covers what else does not travel between the two.

How to check the AION 2 patch notes yourself

Four places, in the order worth checking:

  1. Steam news, AppID 3393110 — where every launch and maintenance note has landed. Bookmark store.steampowered.com/news/app/3393110.
  2. The official site notice board at aion2.plaync.com — where content decisions that are not patches land, such as the Ludra removal.
  3. The in-game notice screen — the client mirrors the same notices, which is the version to trust when the two disagree on wording.
  4. The official Discord — for acknowledgement before a written note exists, and for bug-report intake. The Discord and community channels page lists where players are actually watching.

How this page is maintained: by hand, against NCSOFT’s own feeds, not from a monitor. Each pass records the check time at the top and appends new rows. Testing-server notices are excluded by construction, and any claim that cannot be traced to a numbered NCSOFT notice is labelled unconfirmed rather than promoted.

Sources and verification

  • Steam news API, AppID 3393110, read October 6, 2026 — titles and UTC timestamps of every launch-day post; full text of “Scheduled Maintenance Sun Oct 4 / Mon Oct 5” (Oct 4, 11:43 UTC), “Advanced Access Known Issues” (Oct 3, 07:33 UTC) and “Update on account issues and in-game fixes” (Oct 1, 11:32 UTC)
  • Steam news API, AppID 4972320, same day — 8 items, newest October 19-era closing post; the September 18, 03:57 UTC hot fix belongs to this feed only
  • Official site notice board, aion2.plaync.com — “Update on Sanctuary Raid” (Oct 5, 12:40 UTC) and “AION 2 Will Launch On Time” (Oct 5, 12:50 UTC), used together to establish that board timestamps are UTC
  • Player-side error-code and restriction reports, third-party trackers — used only for the unconfirmed table, attributed there and not promoted

Evidence level: Official for every row in the launch build table and the hotfix ledger, all read from NCSOFT’s own announcement feeds rather than from coverage. Unconfirmed for the community report table and for every error code, which is precisely why those rows are labelled rather than resolved. The September 16 Korean balance change is single-sourced and carried as a comparison row only.
