What should I know about AION 2 launch week?
AION 2’s first week rewards restraint more than speed: pick a class by the role you enjoy rather than by a ranking that does not exist, keep your Kina off gear you will replace, clear the capped daily tasks before you farm anything unlimited, and fix three settings — graphics preset, camera speed and Windows pointer speed — before the grind starts. The global service opened on October 5, 2026, so the advice below separates what launch week actually proved from what still comes from the separate Korea/Taiwan service.
Verified as of October 10, 2026. Launch-window facts — the October 5 opening, the October 4 maintenance changes, the October 7 and October 9 patches, queue behaviour and the transfer date — come from NCSOFT’s own notices as reported on this site’s patch notes and error pages. Anything labelled KR/TW reference is regional material, not a global rule.
Which class should you pick as a new player?
Pick by role and weapon, because those are the only class facts confirmed for the global build — and choose the one you would still enjoy playing badly in week five. AION 2 launches with eight classes, every one open to both factions at either gender, and no credible global tier list exists because balance data from the Korea/Taiwan service describes a different build.
| If you want to | Start with | Weapon |
|---|---|---|
| Anchor the group | Templar (main tank) | Longsword |
| Heavy melee with room to brawl | Gladiator | Greatsword |
| Fast positional melee | Assassin | Dagger |
| Physical damage at range | Ranger | Bow |
| Magic damage at range | Sorcerer | Spellbook |
| A pet alongside your own casts | Spiritmaster | Orb |
| Keep the group alive | Cleric | Mace |
| Support without full healer duty | Chanter | Staff |
Two habits make the first days cheaper. First, spend Skill Points freely: a regional source describes skill resets as free (KR/TW reference), and if that holds, a misallocated point costs redistribution time rather than currency — the skill points guide sets out why hoarding is the worse mistake. Second, test before you commit: the built-in Combat Analysis window opens with Ctrl + X, records per-skill damage, and treats the stationary Training Scarecrows in each faction hub as valid targets, so your rotation can be measured rather than guessed. The full role breakdown lives in the classes overview, and the class tier list explains why any ranking you find is a forecast, not a measurement.
What should you spend Kina on — and what should you not?
Spend Kina on the things that block you now; do not pre-fund gear you will replace, do not buy currency from third-party sellers, and do not paste Korea/Taiwan codes into a global account. AION 2 runs two currencies — Kina, earned in game, and Quna, bought with real money — with an official exchange between them, and the Kina guide reads the full structure off NCSOFT’s July 8, 2026 business model notice.
| Trap | Why it costs you | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Socketing gear you plan to replace | Reported transfer rules keep Enhancement level and Soul Binding but drop Potential, Mana Stones and Theo Stones — the socketed spend gets paid again on the next piece | KR/TW reference, gear progression guide |
| Enhancing everything the moment it drops | Enhancement costs Kina and stones; pushing a slot that is not blocking you drains both for no cleared content | KR/TW reference |
| Third-party Kina sellers | No buyer protection and account-ban risk; the official Quna-to-Kina exchange exists precisely to keep conversion inside the game | Unconfirmed channel, never sanctioned |
| Korea/Taiwan coupon codes | Every widely circulated code — including AION2CHAPTERONE — belongs to the separate regional service and does not redeem on a global account | Verified on the codes page |
| Treating the Market as free | Per NC’s notice the optional membership, reported at $15 a month, gates Market access and the currency exchange; what a free account may still do inside the Market is unannounced | Media-reported from the official notice |
The pattern behind the table: launch-week prices look urgent, and urgency is what makes players pre-spend. The pay-to-win analysis tracks exactly which systems sit behind payment and which do not, and nothing in the announced structure puts classes, dungeons or PvP behind a paywall.
What does a worthwhile daily routine look like?
Story first while the story is ahead of you, then every capped reward, then — only then — anything unlimited. The yellow Episode quests carry the largest XP and gate the systems you need anyway, so a player who grinds past them ends up with levels and no unlocks, then has to return.
The repeatable layer is where routine lives, and its caps are deliberately low enough to be finished rather than farmed:
| Layer | What sources describe | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Duty quests | About 5 per day, account-level cap | Secondary (KR/TW reference) |
| Duty / Command weeklies | About 12 per week, per character | Secondary (KR/TW reference) |
| Dungeon reward energy | 560 cap, 840 with the paid membership, 2,000 charged pool | Two competitor trackers agree; KR/TW reference |
| Main story Episode quests | One-time, in sequence, highest XP | Consistent across secondary sources |
| Regional quests | Worthwhile only when they sit on the story’s path | Structural, portable |
The exact global numbers are not announced, so read the table as the shape of the loop rather than a checklist with counters. What travels is the order: capped rewards before open-ended farming, one coherent Stigma setup instead of leveling everything evenly, and enhancement aimed at the slot actually blocking you. The quests guide and the leveling guide build out the two halves, and the Odyle Energy page separates entry eligibility from reward eligibility — being let into a dungeon never guarantees it pays.
Which settings should you fix before the grind?
Three fixes, all reversible, all worth doing before your first long session: start from the right preset, lower the two settings that actually cost frames, and set mouse speed outside the game. The full walk-through is on the best graphics settings page; the short version:
- Start from the preset that holds. NCSOFT’s own sheet asks for Very Low at full HD on minimum hardware and Low on recommended hardware — that is a compatibility statement, not a performance ladder, and neither preset carries a frame-rate promise.
- Lower Global Illumination and Reflection first, then Shadow Quality. Mass Combat Quality comes down in open-world farming but leave it alone in PvP — it removes character models, which is information, not decoration.
- Set Windows pointer speed to 6/6 with Enhance pointer precision off, then tune the two camera sliders under Graphics > Camera / Direction. AION 2 has no dedicated mouse sensitivity slider, so sensitivity is decided on your desktop, not in the client — the mouse sensitivity guide has the DPI-to-turn table.
One launch-week trap sits in the menus themselves: a duplicated “Movement Controls” entry under Settings > Key Settings > General was a known issue fixed by the October 7, 2026 patch — if your key settings look listed twice, that is the bug, not your mistake.

What should you know about launch week itself?
Queues are healthy, errors are not, and mistakes are cheaper than they were during Advance Access. The distinctions below are the ones launch day actually turned on:
- A queue with a position number means the server is up and full. An error with no queue and no world list is the shape worth triaging — and the local checks come in a fixed order: verify game files, clear the launcher cache, update the driver, check your region selector, free disk space. Reinstalling is last, never first. The errors and fixes page carries the full table.
- Your storefront is your account. Steam purchases play on Steam, PURPLE purchases play on PURPLE, and mixing them up produces a login failure that looks exactly like an outage.
- Full worlds closed character creation on launch day — a capacity response, not a bug. NC’s advice for players stuck queuing was to create a character on a recommended server instead, because server transfers did not open until October 14. Worlds and regions are tracked on the server list page.
- Rerolling is finally cheap. The October 4 maintenance cut the character deletion wait from 168 hours to 24 hours and the minimum level from 10 to 1, so a class you dislike costs you a day, not a week — a far better trade than forcing a bad pick to level 45.
- The first two patches are live. The October 7 patch fixed that duplicated key-setting row, raised Map Pins to 30, increased Raw Leather drops in Verteron and Altgard, added a Resurrection Spiritstone (Season 1) to the Wind Breeze Merchants at 25,000 Kina, limited to 10 purchases per server per week, and let Founder’s Pack owners claim tier items on a free dedicated shop. The October 9 patch raised the Flight Power of the four quest wings by 500 each — Daeva’s Lesser Wings 2,000 → 2,500, the Intermediate, Superior and Ultimate tiers 500 → 1,000 — alongside server stabilization.
Everything else on this page obeys one rule: if a number has not been published for the global build, it stays labelled. The launch-week facts above are global; the daily caps, energy figures and transfer rules marked KR/TW are the shape of a different service.
Which page answers which question?
- Choosing a class: the classes overview for roles and weapons, the class tier list for why rankings cannot exist yet, the skill points guide for spending points.
- Money without mistakes: the Kina guide for the two-currency structure, the gear progression guide for what transfers, the codes page for what does not redeem.
- Routine: the quests guide for the quest families, the leveling guide for the route, the Odyle Energy page for dungeon limits.
- Before you log in for a long session: the graphics settings and mouse sensitivity pages, plus the damage meter page for measuring what changed.
- When something breaks: the errors and fixes table, the patch notes ledger and the server list.
Sources and verification
- NCSOFT maintenance notice “Scheduled Maintenance Sun Oct 4 / Mon Oct 5”, posted October 4, 2026 — deletion wait 168 → 24 hours, minimum level 10 → 1, the eight-hour window that opened the global service; recorded on this site’s patch notes page
- Official Steam news feed for AION 2, October 7 and October 9, 2026 patch announcements, as transcribed by IGN’s AION 2 patch pages (read October 10, 2026) — the key-setting fix, Map Pins to 30, Raw Leather drop increases, the Wind Breeze Merchant Spiritstone at 25,000 Kina with a 10-per-server weekly limit, the Founder’s Pack dedicated shop, and the quest-wing Flight Power increases
- NCSOFT press release, June 5, 2026, and the Steam store copy for AION 2 — the eight-class roster with role and weapon pairings, free-to-play with in-app purchases, “flight as a combat system”
- NC business model notice, July 8, 2026, as reported by Massively Overpowered the same day — Kina and Quna, the official exchange, and the optional membership (reported at $15/month) gating Market access
- NC support notices, October 5–6, 2026, recorded on this site’s errors page — recommended-server advice for queued players, transfers opening October 14, storefront-bound entitlement
- KR/TW reference (labelled in every table above): daily and weekly quest caps, dungeon energy figures, enhancement and transfer behaviour, free skill resets — regional service material, not global rules
- This site’s own pages as cited inline: graphics settings, mouse sensitivity, damage meter, codes and the systems and classes guides
Evidence level: Official / Global for launch timing, the maintenance changes, both October patches, the class roster and the monetization structure; secondary and KR/TW reference for the daily caps, energy figures and enhancement rules, each marked in its table. No damage figure, drop rate, tier ranking or frame rate is stated as a global measurement anywhere on this page, and none has been published as one.
