FAQ

What is the level cap in AION 2?
The Korea/Taiwan service caps at 45, consistent across secondary sources but not confirmed for the global build. NCSOFT has not announced a global level cap, so 45 is a regional reference number, not a global fact.
What level cap did the Launch Scale Test have?
Level 37, in a twelve-hour window across September 17–18, 2026. Progress was wiped afterwards, so the test confirms the client can reach 37 but reveals nothing about the retail XP curve or the global cap.
What is the fastest way to level in AION 2?
Main story quests, called Episode quests and marked in yellow. Secondary sources agree they carry the most XP and unlock core systems such as flight, dungeons and the Abyss. Regional quests fill the level gaps the story creates, and dungeons top up XP rather than replace questing.
How long does it take to reach 45 in AION 2?
Community estimates put a run at roughly 4–5 hours once the route is familiar and 7–10 hours on a first guided playthrough. A separate community summary cites 3.5–5 hours for a skilled run. All of these are KR/TW reference and community estimates, not measurements from a global client.
Do I get Skill Points while leveling?
Yes. Regional materials say Skill Points are granted as you level, and that skill resets are free, so an early misallocation is not permanent. See the skill points guide for how points work past level 10.
Should I plan a leveling build before launch?
No verified global build exists yet, so a leveling build is a guess. Pick a class by role and weapon, follow the story once servers open, and treat any regional tier ranking as inapplicable to the global client.
What changes at max level in AION 2?
KR/TW players report that level scaling opens at 45, keeping lower-tier content relevant for capped characters. That is community-reported and KR/TW reference. NCSOFT has not described a global equivalent, so the endgame systems at cap are not announced.

AION 2’s level cap and the route to it are the first things every new player looks up, and they are also where the most regional data gets mistaken for global fact. Here is what the global build has actually confirmed, what comes from the Korea/Taiwan service, and where the community numbers stop being trustworthy. Read this alongside the quests guide, which breaks down the quest families this route depends on.

What is the level cap in AION 2?

Cap Value Who it applies to Evidence
Retail cap 45 Korea/Taiwan service since November 19, 2025 KR/TW reference
Global cap Not announced Global PC build, launches October 5, 2026 No figure published
Launch Scale Test 37 Test participants, September 17–18, 2026 Official — capped and wiped

45 is the cap on the Korea/Taiwan service, which has run since November 2025. That figure is consistent across several secondary sources but is not confirmed for the global build. The only global-side number comes from the Launch Scale Test, which capped characters at level 37 and ran for twelve hours across two sessions. Test progress was wiped, so it tells you the client can reach 37 — not what the retail curve costs or where it ends.

NCSOFT has not announced the global level cap, the XP curve, or how long 1–45 takes on the live build. Anyone quoting a precise global number before October 5 is extrapolating from KR/TW. The gap matters because a different cap changes everything downstream: which systems unlock, when the endgame starts, and whether the community time estimates even describe the same journey.

Why the main story is the leveling spine

Every secondary source that covers KR/TW leveling says the same thing: follow the yellow main story. These are the Episode quests, and they earn the largest XP rewards, but their real value is gating. The story is what unlocks the systems you need anyway — flight as a combat mechanic, dungeons, the Abyss — so it is not a choice between efficient XP and content, it is both at once.

That makes the story the spine rather than one option among several. Regional quests, side quests and dungeons hang off it: they exist to fill the level gaps the story creates when it asks you to reach a threshold before continuing. A player who skips the story to grind dungeons ends up with a character that has levels but not the unlocks that come with them, and then has to go back anyway.

The confirmed global content set lines up with this shape. The global build has solo dungeons, party dungeons and the Abyss, all of which carry quest content, so the structure of story-first, content-second is expected to carry over even though the specific zone order will not. Treat the shape of the loop as portable and the timetable as regional.

The 1 to 45 route, band by band

No global route can be published before the global build exists, and inventing zone names would make this page useless. What follows is the band-by-band logic of a 1–45 run using only what the Korea/Taiwan service establishes, expressed as actions and cautions rather than place names.

Band What to do What to watch
1–10 Follow the story to the first system unlocks; take side quests only when they sit on the path Learn the controls and camera now; do not skip tutorial steps to save minutes
10–20 Keep the story ahead of everything else; fold in regional quests when the story gates on level The first Daevanion board opens at 12 (KR/TW) — start spending, but do not dump points into the first node you see
20–30 Continue the story; use the first reliable dungeons as XP top-ups; begin the daily quest layer Enhancement Stones are scarce — do not sink them into gear you will replace by 30
30–37 Push the story toward the pre-cap stretch; tighten gear so a story fight cannot stall you Story level gates bite hardest here; clear the region’s quests before moving on
37–45 Region-service band only. Endgame content becomes the main XP source as the story thins No global data exists above 37; level scaling is reported to open at 45

The two bands that need the most caution are the first and the last. In 1–10, the temptation is to race, and the cost is missing a system unlock you will have to find later. In 37–45, the temptation is to trust a route from the Korea/Taiwan service as if it described the global client; it does not. Everything between those poles is the ordinary loop: story forward, region quests to cover gaps, dungeons to top up, repeat until the story resumes. The Daevanion boards guide explains the level-12 unlock and why even the number of boards is disputed across sources.

Gear checkpoints that stall the route

Leveling routes rarely fail because of XP. They fail when a story fight out-scales your gear and you cannot progress. A few structural facts from the regional service tell you where that risk sits:

  • Enhancement runs +1 to +20 and costs Kina plus Enhancement Stones (KR/TW reference) — see the gear progression guide.
  • Transfer carries Enhancement level and Soul Binding, but not Potential, Mana Stones or Theo Stones — so over-investing in a piece you plan to replace can waste the parts that do not move.
  • Daily Dungeon clears award Enhancement Stones, reportedly more the more you clear, up to a cap of 10,000 (Fextralife, KR/TW reference).
  • Gear Score is tracked as its own subsystem, separate from character level, which is why gear can lag behind the level you are wearing it at.

The practical rule is a modest rolling enhancement rather than a full rebuild. If a story fight stalls you, the cheapest fix is usually a small enhancement pass on the pieces you are already wearing, not a hunt for a replacement. Save the large investment for gear you intend to keep, because the transfer rules decide what survives an upgrade and the regional list of what carries over is short.

What to skip while leveling

Skipping is a skill, and the regional service gives you a short list of things a time-efficient run leaves alone:

  • Side quests far off the story path. They pay low XP for the travel time; pick up only what shares a route with the story.
  • Deep gear investment before the cap. Transfer keeps Enhancement level and Soul Binding but drops other subsystems, so early over-investment is partially lost.
  • Grinding dungeons past their daily or weekly limits. Extra runs give no reward once the cap is hit; the dungeon list is the better planning reference.
  • Hoarding Enhancement Stones for “later” if a modest spend right now would clear a stall. Later gear is not worth losing hours today.
  • Memorising a leveling build. No global build exists, so a build copied from a regional guide is a guess dressed as a plan.

None of this means rushing past the game. It means spending your hours where the story and the unlocks are, and treating everything else as filler that can wait until you are at the cap and deciding what to do next.

How long does 1 to 45 take?

Source Estimate What it is
ezg 4–5 hours once the route is familiar community estimate, KR/TW reference
Community summaries 3.5–5 hours for a skilled run community estimate, KR/TW reference
First guided playthrough 7–10 hours community estimate, KR/TW reference
Launch Scale Test 12 hours to level 37, capped and wiped Official — not a 1–45 measure

The honest answer is that the variance is the result. A familiar player who knows the route lands in the 4–5 hour range; a first-timer following a guide takes roughly twice that; and a separate community summary quotes a 3.5–5 hour skilled window that slightly undercuts ezg’s 4–5. Those two figures are close enough that they describe the same kind of run, but they are both KR/TW reference and community estimates, and neither has been verified on the global build.

The Scale Test cannot settle it. Twelve hours produced a level-37 character in a controlled window with progress wiped, so it confirms the client reaches 37 but says nothing about the pace of a full 1–45 run on a live server with a real economy and a real quest order. No reliable global time-to-cap exists yet; player data after October 5 will settle it.

What is still unconfirmed for global

Question Global status
Level cap Not announced
XP curve and per-level requirements Not announced
System unlock order Not announced
Level scaling at cap Community-reported, KR/TW reference
Time to reach cap Community estimates only
Class balance while leveling No global data exists
Whether the KR/TW 45 cap carries over Unconfirmed

If you want to understand where power comes from once the route ends, read the skill points guide and the classes overview rather than memorising a route that may not exist. When the global cap is announced, this page will be rewritten around it; until then, treat everything above 37 as a shape assembled from a different service.
